Guilt by assocation does’t really work in cycling. Cofidis did leave the Tour in disgrace, but one year earlier, in 2007. Who was on the Cofidis team that year? Bradley Wiggins. He left the team in disgust and concentrated on track racing in the Olympics the following year. That year, 2008, Saunier Duval left the Tour, in even murkier circumstances, it is true. But amongst the other positive tests in the same race was a rider from the Barloworld team. They didn’t leave the race, but it very nearly killed the team. Who was a member of the Barloworld team at that time? Chris Froome (although he wasn’t on the Tour squad that year.)

Did you see the pie plates the riders had on the rear? I’ve heard that a 28 or 32 on the back is not uncommon, and some riders have a triple up front.
